ANDERSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The courthouse features neo-classical architecture with double spiral staircase and a beautiful stained glass montage within the dome.

COLUMBIA SCIENTIFIC BALLOON FACILITY

A NASA facility that launches enormous unmanned, high-altitude research balloons to conduct studies of upper atmosphere and outer space. Located at 1510 E FM 3224, Palestine, Texas 75803.

DAVEY DOGWOOD PARK

This 200-acre park of winding trails and rolling hills features breathtaking dogwood blossoms each Spring. Hike, drive or picnic at the pavilion from 9 to 5 daily. Located at 210 North Link Street just one mile from Loop 256. For pavilion reservation contact the County Judge's office at 903-723-7406.


DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT

Palestine is second only to Galveston in number of historic buildings and many examples are located in the historic downtown area. Downtown is also a great place for shopping, browsing for antiques and enjoying small town hospitality and atmosphere. Walking tour brochures are available at the Palestine Chamber of Commerce at 401 W. Main Street.

ELMWOOD GARDENS

This 32-acre garden is located on the old 1920 homestead of Doc Morrow, a self-taught veterinarian who traveled by horse and buggy to local farms. The garden's five-acre displays are beautifully landscaped and feature old-fashioned cottage gardens, herbs, and wildflower meadows. Visit the garden at 680 Anderson County Road 446.

FOX MEADOWS NATURE CONSERVATORY

Hike the trails on 55 acres of deep green forests and pasture land in the Post Oak Savannah. Enjoy the natural grasses, ancient trees and beautiful native wildflowers. Visit the conservatory at 650 Anderson County Road 468.

GRAPELAND DRIVE THRU SAFARI

HOWARD HOUSE MUSEUM

Take a trip back in time at the Howard House Museum – a designated Texas Historical Landmark and excellent example of Greek Revival architecture. The museum features exhibits and furnishings from a time in our history when things were a bit quieter and the pace a good bit slower. Located at 1011 N Perry Street in Palestine.

PALESTINE CIVIC CENTER

Just 2 miles from the La Quinta Inn & Suites, this meeting venue features a large room that can accommodate up to 500 people as well as an auditorium with seating for 1,300. Located at 825 Spring Street.

PALESTINE COMMUNITY FOREST

Located just a few miles Northwest of Palestine, the area boasts 700 acres of pines and hardwoods with scenic drives leading to four lakes featuring fishing, boating, and picnic areas. Sumac, yaupon and sweetgum trees add accents of brilliant color during autumn. Located near the intersection of North loop 256 and Hwy 19/287 North.


THE PALESTINE POLICE MUSEUM

Located in the Palestine Police department, this museum houses a variety of law enforcement photographs, displays, memorabilia, and replicas.

REAGAN PARK

This public park was established in 1911 on a tract of land known as Micheaux Woods and is located at 400 Micheaux Avenue. Named after John H. Reagan, a Palestine resident and U.S. Senator, the park features walking and biking trails, tennis courts and The Museum for East Texas Culture.
